Safety of a technical solution is the first and very important factor for the production of any product. It is reached by a suitable type of a structure, and also by a suitable solution of a relation between a person and a product itself. A proper ergonomic rules of a design require to prevent any injury in a case, which a human body occurs in a gap between a trestle and the ground. In term of physics, it is necessary to reduce the control forces as much as possible. This article is focused on optimization of a trestle weight of an operating hydraulic jack. The research is aimed at finding a compromise between a net weight and the safety of the design. For this purpose, numerical calculations were performed. Reached results have shown, that it is possible to reduce the weight of an original trestle in compliance of design safety in term of strength and stability. An optimization process of the trestle structure results to an optimal design in term of safety as well as the weight.
